Language Courses

Auckland Goldstar Institute offers a variety of courses to suit students’ varying needs. There are six language levels (beginner, elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate and advanced).

Full time courses offer 20 hrs class time and 4 hrs (pop up of class schedules) consultant time per week. Part time courses offer either 15 or 8 hrs tuition per week (you cannot usually get a student visa on a part time course).

Our core programme is called English Language Development. This course develops the structures, vocabulary and language knowledge for operating successfully in an English speaking environments. Based around the four key skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening, the programme enables students to improve their English across all areas simultaneously.

All students do the English Language Development programme. In conjunction with this students can choose from a variety of specialised courses to improve their skills in the target areas.

Students who are focused on academic language skills can choose from Academic Preparation, IELTS preparation and Tertiary Studies preparation. These courses offer targeted training to assist students improve their skills in preparing for academic study in an English speaking country.

For those students who are more interested in the ability to communicate with the wider community, there is theCommunicative English programme. This course works specifically on speaking and listening skills.

Many students are interested in taking up employment in an English speaking country. To assist them we also offer themEmployment preparation. If you are more business oriented, we also offer the Business Studies programme to assist with language issues in a business environment.
