Safety Policies
Auckland Goldstar Institute of Education has considered aspects of the operations which place students or public at risk and has implemented policies and procedures to ensure their protection. All persons on the Institute premises must behave in a manner that minimises the possibility of injury or harm by observing the procedures set out in this document.
Policies and procedures cover students and public protection at all sites. All sites meet building compliance requirements. Students are to adhere to procedures pertaining to fire and safety compliance.
Students are informed of first aid, doctors, fire drills and general safety rules. All incidents or accidents are to be recorded in the Incident Register kept in the Reception.
All persons in the Institute premises must observe the following safety rules:
Problems or Illness:
If you need help, talk with our Student Counsellor, teacher or any other member of our staff. We want to help and support you. If we cannot help directly, we will refer you to someone who can.
No Smoking Policy
We have a no smoking policy and entire College building must be kept smoke-free at all times.
For smoking outside the building use the ashtray provided.
Potential Hazards
The school is routinely checked for potential hazards by the staff. However, if any student identifies a potential hazard such as loose wiring or loose carpet, please inform us so that it can be rectified?
First Aid
Your health and safety is very important to us. Please let us know if you are not well or have some safety concerns. We have First Aid Kit at Reception. In the case of emergency please contact a staff member immediately.
Security
Although we do not have a big problem with security in the school, with so many people coming and going it is impossible to check on everybody. Please do not bring valuable items (jewellery, money, credit cards, passports) to school if at all possible. If you must bring them, keep them with you at all times (e.g. in a belt pouch or shoulder bag) at your own risk.
