NZIM Diploma in Management / Diploma in Healthcare Studies / Diploma in Healthcare Management
All students must attain a C Grade in each assessment to be awarded a Pass, and in doing so must satisfy the required learning outcomes as outlined in the module prescription and the course outlines.
Assessment is normally through tests, assignments or examinations, or a combination of these. Each assessment will be weighted, taking account of the requirements outlined in the prescription, and the mark after calculation will be carried forward as part of the final mark.
i. Students not obtaining a mark of 50% (Grade C) in any assignment will, providing they obtain a minimum mark of 40%, be given one opportunity only to resubmit and will not be awarded a mark higher than 59% (Grade C). The date for resubmission will be advised by the tutor after consultation with the Head of Department.
ii. Students not obtaining a mark of 50% (Grade C) in the examination will be permitted to resit a different examination paper, providing they obtained a minimum of 40 % in the initial examination. Students with a mark below 40 % will not be permitted to resit. The date of this examination will be determined by the Academic Manager in consultation with the Head of Department.
iii. If on completion of the module a student overall weighting is over 50% although they have not achieved this mark in all the assessments they will be required to complete work to meet criteria not achieved providing they have achieved a minimum mark of 40% in all assessments. The nature of any additional work to be submitted, and the hand in date, will be advised by the Academic Director in consultation with the tutor and Head of Department.
Students taking resits, or completing additional work to meet specific criteria, will have their final result listed as PENDING until such work is submitted and marked.
The weighting of any resubmitted work will be used to agree the total mark and a Pass (Grade C) mark will only be awarded if the overall mark of all weightings reaches 50%.
Students resubmitting due to (i), (ii) or (iii) above will be required to pay the relevant fee, applicable at the time, for resubmission.
Resubmitted work must be handed in to the Administration office and not to the tutor.
Assignments must be handed in, and examinations taken, on the date indicated in the course outline.
Students submitting assignments late, with the approval of their tutor, will not be penalised although they will not be allowed to resubmit.
Assignments received late within two weeks of the submission date, without prior authorization, will be marked at the tutor’s discretion and will not be marked above the Grade C level, i.e. 59%, and there will be no opportunity to resubmit.
Assignments received later than two weeks after the submission date will not be marked.
Students failing to sit a final examination will be marked as zero, unless prevented in doing so by illness. In such cases a medical certificate must be submitted within three days of the date of the examination.
Students must attach the appropriate cover sheet to their submitted work with details of their name and Student ID number as per the AGI standardised cover sheet.
Generally, students are able to undertake re-assessment of written or practical assignments in which they were unable to reach the required standard. To ensure the validity and authenticity of assessments, individual courses or programmes may have specific regulations relating to re-assessment.
