JOB DESCRIPTION - Healthcare Tutor
Job Title: Healthcare tutor
Position Purpose: To provide quality teaching and learning through the sharing of caregiving skills and health knowledge.
Specifically to:
-
teach the theoretical content of our healthcare programmes
-
provide workplace supervision for healthcare students
-
undertake administrative tasks related to healthcare programmes
-
Responsibilities and Duties
Key Tasks/Accountabilities
-
Deliver theoretical and workplace components of healthcare programmes in our faculty and clinical facilities
-
Use nursing knowledge to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate teaching content for healthcare programmes
-
Provide nursing knowledge to assist students to achieve skill competency in the workplace
-
Deliver and assess a range of modules like health and safety, infection control, manual handling, support a person to participate as a member of the community, support for personal needs, support and manage a person with dementia
-
Assesses practical and theoretical components of healthcare programmes
-
Check that all placement materials are current and fit for purpose before placement.

Familiarise themselves with and carry out all duties and responsibilities with due regard for the College’s quality management system (QMS), structure and culture.

Engage students in a high-quality learning experience to achieve the goal or qualification for which they are studying.

Reporting and documenting the clinical visit details on weekly basis and sharing the same with the Clinical placement officer and Programme leaders.

Cooperate with the College in order to ensure their own health and safety and that of students and colleagues.

Familiarise themselves with and uphold our values, policies and procedures in the QMS.

Documents student assessments

Provides ongoing assessment of students progress

Participates in programme moderation

Demonstrates accountability for own actions and accountabilities
Qualifications and Skills
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Academic qualifications:
-
Masters degree in a Health related field (or Post Graduate qualification, or equivalent)
Knowledge and Experience:
-
Knowledge and understanding of course structures, learning approaches and assessment.
-
Organisational skills in programme planning and delivery
-
Current best practice in healthcare facility operations and management in Aotearoa NZ
Skills and Competencies:
-
The ability to articulate clearly and to be understood in teaching and making presentations to class groups

Team player with good communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, students, and external bodies
-
Efficient administration skills to support good student record keeping
-
Skills in working as a member of a team and motivating colleagues
-
Energy and enthusiasm for working in a rapidly changing
-
environment and ability to demonstrate flexibility in working practices
-
The use of a wide range of teaching aids, including Information Communication Technology as applicable
